Purpose

Committee is asked to consider and provide
comments to the Education & Children's Service regarding the
Education Scotland Inspection of Turriff Academy.

Content

The Committee provided the following comments
to the Education and Children’s Service:
 
a)   
Members thanked officers for attending Committee and speaking so
honestly and openly,
b)   
The Turriff Academy stakeholder input into improvement priorities
was very welcomed,
c)   
It was noted that the Head Teacher, school and wider community had
taken onboard the outcome of the inspection report and the ability
to turn the negative into a positive was very clear, with the
ownership of the improvement plan being demonstrated by all,
d)   
The current Head Teacher had come into the role with enthusiasm and
had started to move things forward.  It
was encouraging to see the challenges being taken head-on,
e)   
The ethos within the school was very positive,
f)     
The school produced fantastic students with positive destination
outcomes,
g)   
The pupils were very invested in what they did in their community
and the attitude of the students did not reflect the report,
and
h)   
Updates were welcomed going forward, perhaps through the Education
and Children’s Services Committee.
