Purpose

This Report seeks for the Education and
Children's Services Committee to establish a new sub Committee, to
be known as the Education Appeals sub Committee, following changes
approved to the Scheme of Governance by Full Council.

Content

Appendix 1, paragraph 1.2 to be amended to:
“The purpose of the Sub Committee is to consider and
determine appeals by teachers and associated professionals against
any decision of dismissal by the Council, or any grievance by
giving consideration as to whether the correct process has been
followed and whether the outcome determined at officer level is
reasonable.”
 
Amended Appendix 1 (above) to be distributed
to elected Members only.
 
Recommendation 1.2.2 amended to:
“Approve the Terms of Reference of the Sub-Committee attached
as Appendix 1 (as amended).
 
Meeting to be held within one month to six
weeks between officers and members to confirm how the Sub-Committee
will work.
