Purpose

As defined within the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Act 1997, every planning authority shall determine which parts of their district are areas of special architectural or historic interest and designate these as conservation areas. The Act further states it is the duty of a local planning authority to formulate and publish proposals for the preservation and enhancement of any parts of their district which are conservation areas. The boundary review of Huntly was brought forward early as a direct request from Committee on 14th February 2023, the committee report noted that the planning authority were only seeking to undertake a review of the 2013 boundary. Committee agreed that a full review of the Huntly Conservation Area be undertaken. The review of the 2013 boundary has been undertaken, including community consultation and the Committee are asked to note the outcome of that process.

Decision

Noted as per recommendations 1.2.1 to 1.2.5 and further agreed to request that the Head of Planning and Economy meet with Ward 14 Members prior to taking a decision.
