Purpose

This report is to inform Formartine Area
Committee of the outcome of the statutory consultation process
regarding the closure of Fisherford School.

Content

The Committee noted the formal consultation
report and provided the following comments to the Education and
Children’s Services Committee:

1.   
It would be appropriate to reassign the catchment area to Rayne
North School, noting the comments from the community,

2.   
It was noted that the children who currently received school
transport to another school, following the closure of Fisherford
School, would continue to do so, as would their siblings if the
family remained on the school roll, however going forward any new
admissions to an out of zone school would not,

3.   
The Council needs to pay attention to the utilities and fabric of
the empty building, and

4.   
It was noted that for those in the Fisherford catchment area,
Oldmeldrum Academy would be considered as in zone.
