Purpose

Provide members with the outcome of the 5 year
review of the Roads Winter Maintenance Policy and any accompanying
documentation and ask for comments from members.

Content

The Committee agreed
to:-
 

1.       request that
briefing be provided showing the areas in garioch that are covered
by third party contractors; and
 
2.       provide the
following comments to ISC:
 

a)       consideration should
be given to ensuring that key crossings are kept free from snow at
the kerb and are gritted right up to the kerb;

 

b)       care should be taken
when leaving piles of grit in settlements;

 

c)       consideration should
be given to changing “as far as practicable” to
“as far as reasonable” within the Policy Statement on
Page 335;

 

d)       consideration should
be given to ensure that grit bins, provided by developers, that
don’t meet policy are removed by the developer concerned
before the road is adopted;

 

e)       clarity is require
in the text on Page 374 where the information is contradictory and
confusing

 

f)        clarity is
required around the stocks of sand; and

 

g)       the colours used
within the graphs are too similar.
