In June 2023, Worthing Joint Strategic
Sub-Committee approved recommendations contained within a paper
entitled ‘Redevelopment of 24 Marine Place to provide
Temporary Accommodation.’ The report sought approval for the
re-development of the Council owned property at 24 Marine Place to
provide EATA and for a budget to complete the development of the
site.

A budget of £1.1m was approved from the
unallocated EATA budget and it was noted that funding from Homes
England would be sought to support development costs for the
project. The Director for Housing and Communities has been
delegated authority to enter into all necessary contracts to enable
the project to progress through the construction phase to
completion.

Since adoption of the recommendations, the
Development Team have applied for and been awarded £400,000
funding from Homes England to progress the project. In order to
access this grant funding, Worthing Borough Council will enter into
a Grant Agreement with the Homes and Communities Agency (trading as
Homes England) in relation to the Affordable Homes Programme
2021-2026.
