Reasons for the decision

Adur Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Strategic
Planning: It is a legal requirement for us to have an SCI and this
updated version gives residents and all other stakeholders an
opportunity to be involved in the process. The very essence of an
SCI is to ensure engagement.
Worthing Cabinet
Member for Regeneration: The revised draft SCI aims will ensure
that the public, businesses and interest groups within Worthing can
get involved in Planning Policy, Neighbourhood Planning and the
planning application decision making process. This is an important
part of local democracy.

Alternative options considered

Adur Cabinet Member for Regeneration & Strategic
Planning: I am happy that no other options are available to us, it
is important that we consult on the updated version of the SCI as
has been prepared.
Worthing Cabinet
Member for Regeneration: If a revised SCI is not in place, public
consultation may not be carried out in accordance with statutory
requirements.
