Reasons for the decision

 
With the modern day Cyber Risks and the
increase in sensitive data being accessed via corporate mobile
phones it is essential to ensure the devices are protected with
market leading security protection to ensure protection for
corporate and customer data from cyber hackers and cyber
incidents.
 
Our estate of phones and tablets (Around 600
devices) are all Samsung with our chosen supplier for the mobile
phone contract for voice and data being Vodafone which was signed
in April 2023 for three years.
 
Mobile Device Security:
Lookout for Work helps protect company data and devices from
various security threats. This includes safeguarding against
malware, phishing attacks, and other mobile-specific threats. By
securing mobile devices, businesses can reduce the risk of data
breaches and cyberattacks.
Data Protection: Adur and Worthing councils deal with sensitive and
confidential data. Lookout for Work helps ensure that this data is
protected, even when employees access it on their mobile
devices.
 
Compliance: Requirements
regarding the protection of customer data. Mobile security
solutions can help businesses meet these compliance standards,
avoiding costly fines and legal issues.
 
Productivity: Lookout for Work
can enhance productivity by allowing employees to use their
smartphones for work-related tasks without the fear of compromising
security. This includes accessing email, documents, and other
work-related applications.
 
Lost or Stolen Device
Recovery: In the event that an employee's mobile device is lost
or stolen, Lookout for Work can help track and recover the device
or remotely wipe sensitive data to prevent unauthorised access.

(MDM): Using a mobile device management solution with security
apps like Lookout for Work will allow us to manage and control
mobile devices, including configuring security settings, pushing
updates, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
 
Remote Work: With the rise of
remote work, employees are increasingly using their mobile devices
to access company resources. Mobile security solutions help extend
security to these remote endpoints, ensuring that employees can
work securely from anywhere.
 
Phishing Prevention: Phishing
attacks are a significant threat to businesses. Lookout for Work
helps protect employees from phishing scams by identifying and
blocking suspicious links and emails.
 
App and Network Security:
Lookout for Work can monitor the apps installed on devices and
assess their security risks. They can also protect against threats
that may arise from unsecured Wi-Fi networks or public
hotspots.

Alternative options considered

Market research was completed, and attendance
at the Infosecurity Europe conference
earlier in 2023 to meet the market leaders in mobile phone
security; after comparing multiple options and looking at the
associated corporate risks, we considered two options.

On further testing and supplier
demonstrations, Lookout for Work was more suited to our estate and
mitigated more of our risks to provide us with a more substantial
level of protection.
