Following a price review from the two highest
scoring Contractors, and confirmation that both Contractors will
stand by their tendered prices, following the competitive Tender
process completed late 2024, the decision is to award the Phase 2
Replacement Fire Damper Works to Gemini AMPM Ltd in the sum of
£106,749.00 plus VAT and Fees. The works will replace the
existing defective Fire Dampers so as to ensure the fire safety of
the building remains compliant.

Reasons for the decision

Fire dampers are a key part of a building's
life safety features; they close in the event of a fire and prevent
smoke spread through the ventilation system. The fire dampers at
the Splashpoint Leisure Centre have
suffered corrosion and are in various states of disrepair.
Replacement and repair of the fire dampers is required to maintain
a safe environment for users and staff. A specialist Consulting
Engineer has been appointed to prepare a prioritised programme of
works; this is the second Phase of repairs.

Alternative options considered

There are no alternative options for this type
of work in order to keep the Leisure Centre Compliant from a Fire
Safety Perspective.
