Decision 1:
 
Capital budget has been agreed in 2026/27 for
the purchase of a new backup platform. Due to rising worldwide
computer hardware costs, to bring forward the purchase, a virement
has been agreed. This is from a currently underspent budget of
£70,000 to the Corporate Hardware budget. The 2026/27 budget
for the new backup platform will be considered for virement to the
appropriate digital project(s) following approval.
 
Decision 2:
 
Upto £170,000 funds from Corporate
Hardware Capital budget will be used for the purchase of a
replacement backup platform and to include immutable backups. Due
to pricing fluctuations, the “upto” cost is shown.
Currently we are seeing a 14% hardware increase over the past 3
months.
 
 
 

Reasons for the decision

To renew an aging on-premise backup server
array and replace with a modern Dell backup platform incorporating
immutable secure backups.

No other options have been considered.
