To award a contract
to Excel Trucks for the complete refurbishment of a Refuse
Collection Vehicle (RCV) body for the sum of £60,000. To
complete the necessary works to extend the operational life of the
fleet asset and ensures the continued resilience of the
Council’s waste collection service
 

Reasons for the decision

Refurbishing the existing RCV body represents
a significant cost saving compared to the capital expenditure
required to procure a brand-new vehicle. This investment of
£60,000 with Excel Trucks will extend the lifespan of the
current asset, aligning with the Council’s commitment to
sustainable procurement and ensuring service continuity for
residents without incurring the long lead times associated with new
vehicle orders.
 

Alternative options considered

Other suppliers were invited to bid as per the
normal procurement process but no other quotations were
received.
