To accept Lane Rental Grant Funding from West
Sussex County Council to the value of £53,458 to upgrade
bikes and associated infrastructure of the bike hire scheme and
appoint Sussex Outdoors Life to perform service and maintenance of
the cycle hire fleet for 26/27 with a contract value of
£40,000.

Reasons for the decision

External funding offered to enhance and expand
the existing provision with the service and maintenance contract
required for 26/27 at an increase of £5,000 (from 25/26)
owing to the increased cycles, licenses, equipment and
infrastructure forming part of the contract.

Alternative options considered

No alternative provider identified in the
market, therefore the bike hire scheme would cease without awarding
the contract for 26/27. In addition, the Council has the option of
not taking the grant funding but this would leave the overall
scheme in a worse state for the next operational year.
