Decision

To award the intrusive testing work to uncover and assess concrete encased steel beams to J T Mackley, in the sum of £78,455.42 plus VAT, through the existing Pier and Lido Substructure Term Maintenance Contract.

The Pier and Lido Substructure Term Maintenance Contract is in place to undertake any work that is required to both Pier and Lido substructures.

Reasons for the decision

The investigation work is required to understand the extent of the deterioration of the steel beam encased concrete on the Lido substructure. The Term Maintenance Contract is in place for such work.

Alternative options considered

Options around other methods to support the substructure have been considered. The information from this work will also help determine the required resources for repairs compared to the other options.
