Purpose

This report updates the Planning Policy
Committee on the update to the Arun District Design Guide SPD,
which will be subject to a public consultation in January 2024 and
then subsequent adoption by Full Council. The Arun District Design
Guide SPD was adopted in January 2021, since then, there has been
an update of the Highway Code, which has made it imperative to
update the Design Guide to reflect the Local Transport Note 120
(LTN 1/20) regarding cycling infrastructure and requirements for
highway junction design. Therefore, a targeted update to a specific
chapter is required to reflect this new guidance. Because of the
status of the document, public consultation on these changes is
required.
