To award the contract for roof replacement
works at Block x Roman Acre to D Adams & Sons Ltd for the sum
of £73,150.00, subject to satisfactory contract terms, and to
authorise Legal Services to apply the Council seal.

Reasons for the decision

The roof at this block has reached the end of
its useful life and must be replaced to maintain the safety and
weatherproofing of the building. A formal tender process was
undertaken by the Council’s consultants, and D Adams &
Sons Ltd provided the best combination of cost-effectiveness and
quality of previous work with the Council.

Alternative options considered

The option of using other contractors was
explored via a tender process issued to four regularly used local
roofing contractors. One contractor did not submit a return. Of the
three responses, D Adams & Sons Ltd offered the best value for
money based on price and quality. No other viable option is
available due to the urgent need for replacement.
