To confirm that the Director of Environment
and
Communities will act as my designated deputy during my absence
throughout from 7 July to 11 July 2025 inclusive.
They will be known as ‘Acting Chief Executive’ during
this period.
All Councillors and the Senior Leadership Team were advised of this
decision on Tuesday 3 June 2025.

Reasons for the decision

In accordance with my authority in Part 4
(Officer Scheme of Delegation General Principles), Annexe 1,
paragraph 1.2 of the Council’s Constitution, as Chief
Executive, I may allocate or delegate responsibility for exercising
particular powers to
any officer of the Council as I think fit.
The powers to be delegated to this officer are those set out under
my existing delegation at Part 4 (Officer Scheme of Delegation),
Annexe 1.
It should be noted that the Director of Environment and Communities
has a similar delegation to ensure there is adequate cover and
support to the organisation during this period of absence.
This authority shall be retained by these officers for the period
of the delegation and shall not exceed a period of six
months.

Alternative options considered

To allow no officer delegation in my absence
which presents too high a risk of the Council being unable to
operate as the Constitution and law requires.
