The Group Head of Housing, Wellbeing &
Communities has approved the Tenancy Sustainment Policy under
delegated authority as outlined in the Council’s
Constitution.

Reasons for the decision

The policy sets out the Council’s
approach to supporting tenants to maintain their tenancies,
particularly those who are vulnerable or at risk of tenancy
failure. It ensures a consistent, proactive, and person-centred
approach to tenancy sustainment. Approval under delegated authority
enables timely implementation without the need for further
committee consideration.

Alternative options considered

Referral to Committee for approval –
rejected as the policy falls within the remit of officer delegation
granted in the Policy & Strategy committee report dated 26
March 2024.

Not updating or introducing the policy – rejected as this
would risk inconsistent practice and potentially increased tenancy
failure rates.
