Appoint Sloane and Brown Ltd.

Reasons for the decision

Quotes were requested from three consultants
and reviewed against the specification and method statement
guidance. Sloane and Brown Ltd. Were the only consultant to provide
a quote. The other two consultants did not have resource to deliver
the project to the required timescales.

The prices were as follows:

Sloane and Brown
Stage 1 Space planning and budget £1,975
Stage 2 Detailed design and BR application £1,850
Stage 3 Refurb and Demo Type Asbestos Survey and report –
specialist to be appointed separately
Stage 4 Principal Designer under CDM regs £1,200
Stage 5 Tender preparation and issue £4,900
Stage 6 Contract Admin 7.5% of cost of the building works.
Estimated at £14,625 ( based on estimate of
£195k)

It was agreed to proceed with Sloane and Brown Ltd. on a
stage-by-stage basis to monitor performance and to allow for the
project to be terminated if committee approval to proceed is not
obtained.

Alternative options considered

To seek further quotes though the tight
timescales make this unviable.
