To appoint Crown Oil to clean and make secure
the old fuel and oil tanks at the former Parkers Builders Merchants
yard, Station Road, East Preston.

Reasons for the decision

As part of the work to let the yard and
associated building it is necessary to future proof the site which
includes the decommissioning of the old fuel and oil tanks.

Four contractors responded to invitation with quotes to clean,
de-gas and infill the tanks making them safe for the future.

Crown Oil have provided the most cost-effective quote to
decommission the tanks.

Alternative options considered

Not undertaking the decommissioning- that
would pose a risk in the future of leaking with adverse
environmental and financial implications.
