To appoint Arun Security to undertake
replacement external doors at Bersted Community Centre.

Reasons for the decision

The existing external doors to the centre are
beyond repair and need replacing. Not through lack of maintenance
but poor design when the building was erected.

Freedom Leisure who manage the leisure contract have repair
responsibilities for this asset. Under the Dual Use Agreement Arun
District Council are responsible for the replacement of the
doors.

Freedom Leisure have their own procurement agreement with
suppliers.

Freedom approached their supplier for the replacement of 6no.
external single leaf and 1no. double leaf doors. Their contractor
did not follow the design specification and quoted as they saw fit.
These doors were off the shelf and adapted. This is the same as
current and will have a reduced life span.

Freedom was asked to provide an alternative quote from anther
contractor following the design specification. The alternative
quote was for bespoke hardwood doors that will provide
longevity.

Alternative options considered

None. These doors need replacing to maintain
security and reduce maintenance of the building.
