Arun Leisure Centre – New main pool pumps
November 14, 2025 Deputy Chief Executive (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Content
To authorise the purchase and installation of
two new circulation pumps via Welden Leisure Ltd.
Reasons for the decision
The two existing circulation pumps are beyond
life expiry albeit in operation.
Under the Dual Use Agreement it is the responsibility of Arun
District Council to cover the cost for the replacement pumps. Any
failure may result in compensation claims against the council if
the pool is out of operation.
The council’s leisure contractor, Wealden Leisure Ltd trading
as Freedom Leisure, have their own procurement policy and list of
approved suppliers and contractors.
Under the dual use agreement it is for the leisure contractor to
procure and deliver the installation of the pumps, and for the
council to reimburse Welden Leisure Ltd.
Alternative options considered
Do nothing, This is not an option as the pumps
are life expired.
Defer to a later date, This is not an option as without warning the
pumps could fail resulting in compensation claims against the
council and disruption to service users.
