Content
To instruct solicitors to issue a new lease on
the terms agreed for the letting of the existing Bognor Regis wet
fish stall and adjacent shingle.
Reasons for the decision
This decision is in accordance with our
disposal policy, as documented within ADC Asset Management
Strategy.
The new letting will regularise the occupation of the Bognor
Fisherman’s Association CIC (BFA) which has remained
undocumented for many years.
This letting will not only safeguard the BFA, but will reduce any
associated risk the Council may have been liable for.
This 25 year lease provides an opportunity for the Fisherman to
improve their existing offering and provide them with the
opportunity to access grant funding which can be utilised to
improve their offering.
Their will be no associated rent with this letting, however, the
tenant will be liable for all of their own occupational costs i.e.
rates, utilities and insurance.
It is our recommendation that we proceed with the letting to Bognor
Fisherman’s Association CIC.
Alternative options considered
Alternative options were not considered as the
BFA have been occupying the site unregularised for a number of
years. They are a local organisation who have now formed as a
CIC.
