A decision has been taken to approve and enter
into an Information Sharing Agreement with West Sussex County
Council. The Agreement sets out the principles, responsibilities
and control measures governing the safe, lawful and appropriate
sharing of data between the two organisations. It enables the
sharing of specific property-related datasets (such as UPRNs,
addresses, property types and construction dates) for the purpose
of supporting digital connectivity and improving social inclusion.
The Agreement has been formally signed on behalf of Arun District
Council
Reasons for the decision
The sharing of data is necessary to support
digital connectivity initiatives aimed at reducing digital
exclusion for residents. The Agreement ensures that information
sharing will be compliant with data protection legislation,
including GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It sets out how
data will be used, stored, accessed and protected, and establishes
responsibilities for managing subject access requests, FOI and EIR
requests, retention, disposal, accuracy, and security. It also
confirms the nominated officers and governance arrangements
required for compliant joint working. The decision formalises the
partnership and allows work to proceed in a structured and legally
compliant way
Alternative options considered
No alternative options were proposed. Without
an approved Information Sharing Agreement, lawful data sharing
between the two organisations would not be possible, which would
limit opportunities to support digital connectivity and social
inclusion work
