xx Roundstone Drive – Emergency Access to Secure Property
July 2, 2026 Chief Executive (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
To authorise entry to xx Roundstone Drive under the Council's Access Policy on emergency grounds, due to the property being insecure and at risk of unauthorised entry. Officers are authorised to enter the property to secure it and install a key safe.
Reasons for the decision
The property was identified as being insecure and therefore vulnerable to entry by intruders. Reasonable attempts had been made to contact the tenant and gain access through the usual processes, but these attempts were unsuccessful. Given the risk to the property and the need to protect it from unauthorised access, emergency entry was considered necessary.
Alternative options considered
Continue attempts to contact the tenant and delay access until permission could be obtained through normal channels. This option was rejected due to the immediate risk posed by the insecure nature of the property and the potential for unauthorised entry.
