Disposal of Kingsnorth Recreation Centre
December 14, 2023 Deputy Chief Executive (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Disposal of single storey building constructed
in approx 1997 with an extension built in 2000s with S106 developer
contributions from Persimmon Homes. The Freehold now held by
Ashford Borough council. The title contains a restrictive covenant
which provides for community use in perpetuity. No other
restrictions apply.
The site provides approx. 57 parking spaces. The original building
currently vacant with the extension currently occupied under a
Tenancy at Will by The Little Acorns pre-school nursery.
Decision
As a result of the marketing campaign a formal
offer was received from the World Mission Agency - Winners Chapel
International (charity No. 1134421).
The decision is to accept the offer and dispose of Kingsnorth
Recreation Centre. This allows the rationalisation of the Council's
portfolio by disposing of this asset which is surplus to the
Council's operational requirements. The sale secures a market value
and achieves best consideration in line with the S123 statutory
requirements, providing a capital receipt of £600,000 as well
as retaining a community use.
