Purpose
To approve Domestic Abuse Policy

It
was RESOLVED: -
1.1
That Cabinet approved the adoption of
the Joint Domestic Abuse Policy For Babergh and Mid Suffolk
District Council 2025 – 2028 as set out in Appendix 1 and
delegates authority to the Director of Housing with the relevant
Portfolio Holder to make minor amendments to maintain compliance
with legislation and best practice.
REASON FOR DECISION
To allow the Council to meet
its duties under the Domestic Abuse (DA) Act 2021 and the Social
Housing Regulation Act 2023 to:

To ensure have an appropriate policy in place which
makes it clear for our residents as to how we will work to deal
with domestic abuse, support survivors and deal with
perpetrators.

To support the councils requirement within the
Regulator for Social Housing’s Neighbourhood and Community
Consumer Standard that registered providers must have a policy for
how they recognise and effectively respond to cases of domestic
abuse.
·
To set out the Councils position concerning Domestic
Abuse and assure residents that it takes Domestic Abuse seriously
and has robust mechanisms in place to help combat/reduce
behaviour
