It was
RESOLVED: -

1.1
 That Cabinet adopt
the proposed policy to take effect on 1 st October
2024.

REASON FOR
DECISION

The
Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy has been
reviewed and drafted following changes to legislation, best
practice, and statutory guidance. Engagement with the taxi trade
has been a significant part of this process. The consultation
highlighted some items for further discussion and consideration by
the Licensing and Regulatory Committee.

These items were determined and agreed by Licensing Regulatory
Committee on 25 th July 2024. It is recommended that this new
policy is adopted to ensure the Council is up to date, transparent
and consistent with a licensing framework for hackney carriage and
private hire licences.

Alternative
Options Considered and Rejected:

There is an option not to adopt the policy, however the policy
has been approved by Licensing Regulatory Committee. This is not
recommended as the policy is deemed to be effective, reflect best
practice and procedures contained with statutory guidance and
standards.

Any Declarations of Interests Declared: None

Any Dispensation Granted: None
