Health & Safety - Bullhouse and Hazelhead Bridges (TPT) (ODD/038/2023)
October 10, 2023 Executive Director Growth and Sustainability (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
To approve £180,000 for the provision of repairs to Bullhouse and Hazelhead bridges which form part of the Public Rights of Way Network.
Reasons for the decision
The Trans Pennine Trail between Dunford Bridge and Penistone has two purpose built bridges that were installed in 2000, these had plywood composite decks. The condition of the bridges has deteriorated to the point where a replacement deck is required. Bullhouse bridge is currently closed to all traffic and a temporary diversion is in place. Hazelhead bridge is currently open as the condition of the bridge is not as severe, although a closure is expected in the next calender year.
Undertaking work on these two bridges together will enable economies of scale to be realised and minimise disruption to TPT users.
