Active Travel Hub - Proposed Operational Model (ODD/029/2023)
September 4, 2023 Executive Director Growth and Sustainability (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Decision
To cease the contract for the Active Travel Hub with the Heeley Development Trust and implement a revised operating model.
Reasons for the decision
The proposed operating model would see BMBC bring the service inhouse primarily to create a new operating model by integrating the Active Travel Hub (ATH) and new services into the BMBC Sport and Physical Activity Team.
The proposed operating model would enable:
· Integrate activity into the wider cycling, walking and scooting behaviour change programme.
· Explore efficiencies across the Sport and Physical Activity Team through sharing resources, staff, deliver joint events and behaviour change activity.
· Join up the marketing and messaging into one consistent campaign.
· Revise the delivery of services to have visibility across the borough rather than just a town centre presence. Both are important to this delivery model.
· Deliver the service that Barnsley needs to drive recreational and commuter cycling.
Alternative options considered
There are no alternatives to this proposal.
