Decision

To award a contract, for the delivery of a comprehensive occupational health service.  This decision is taking following a comprehensive, and competitive, procurement process that met the requirements of both the Public Contract Regulations 2015 and the Council’s Contract Procedure Rules.

Reasons for the decision

The Council is required to provide occupational health services as part of its duties as an employer. The current contract was due to expire so alternative provision was required to ensure continuity of provision.

Alternative options considered

The Council has previously had an in-house service however, the decision was made several years ago to outsource this specialist service for reasons including recruitment problems and professional supervision.  These issues would still exist therefore because of this it was agreed that an external supplier is still required to deliver the services needed and to ensure these services will be delivered in a timely manner.
