Purpose

The purpose of this report is to set out the council’s response to the submission consultation on the Silchester Neighbourhood Plan (SILNP). The Plan is currently subject to a formal period of public consultation as per Regulation 16 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

Decision

The Cabinet Member agrees that the comments on the draft Silchester Neighbourhood Plan (as set out in Appendix 1) should be submitted in response to the submission (Regulation 16) consultation.

Reasons for the decision

It is recommended that the LPA’s proposed comments (as outlined in appendix 1) are submitted to the Independent Examiner for their consideration when assessing the NP against the Basic Conditions.

Alternative options considered

The Local Planning Authority could decide not to respond to the consultation. However, this would mean the council’s representations concerning the Neighbourhood Plan would not be considered by the independent examiner when they assess the Neighbourhood Plan against the Basic Conditions.
