Purpose
To consider a nomination from Laverstoke and
Freefolk Parish Council to list Laverstoke and Freefolk Community
Site as an Asset of Community Value.
Decision
The Laverstoke and Freefolk Community Site be
added to the Council’s list of Assets of Community Value.
Reasons for the decision
The nomination of Laverstoke and Freefolk
Community Site meets the criteria to be listed as an Asset of
Community Value under the legislation relating to Community Right
to Bid, in that:
• The
nominating organisation (Laverstoke and
Freefolk Parish Council) is a
qualifying nominator with a local connection under Section 89(2)(b)
of the Localism Act.
• The
asset is an important community hub within the town, which offers a
wide range of opportunities for social interaction and community
engagement that help to increase wellbeing and community cohesion,
and is valued by local residents as well as those from further
afield.
• It is
realistic to think that there can continue to be non-ancillary use
of the Asset that would further (whether or not in the same way as
before) the social wellbeing or social interests of the local
community.
Alternative options considered
None – the nomination meets the criteria
to be listed as an Asset of Community Value
