Purpose
The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) has been awarded £4.2m of Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) funding to support the delivery of public electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the region. Bath and North East Somerset Council has subsequently been allocated £1.63m of this funding to deliver charging infrastructure within its administrative area.
To enable delivery of the programme, an Inter-Authority Agreement (IAA) has been developed to formalise the role of Bath and North East Somerset Council as Highway Authority in the implementation of the LEVI project. This report seeks approval for the Council to enter into this Agreement and authorisation for its formal execution.
Decision
The Cabinet Member agrees to delegate approval to the Executive
Director of Sustainable Communities to sign the Inter-Authority
Agreement for the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project on
behalf of Bath and North East Somerset Council.
Reasons for the decision
Entering into the IAA is necessary for Bath & North East Somerset
Council to participate in the regional LEVI programme and facilitate
delivery of publicly accessible charging infrastructure within the
authority area. Approval of the recommendation will provide the
governance framework required to support the concession
arrangements, enable the delivery of the WESTcharge network within
Bath & North East Somerset and secure the benefits of Government
funding and private sector investment in charging infrastructure.
Alternative options considered
Do not enter into the Inter-Authority Agreement.
