Purpose

To update the Executive Member on progress relating to the proposed extension of Pleasington Cemetery and to seek continued support for progression of the planning, environmental and procurement activities necessary to secure future burial provision for Blackburn with Darwen.

Decision

RESOLVED:

1)    That the progress made in developing the Pleasington cemetery extension project be noted.

2)    That the progression of the planning application and associated approvals process be endorsed.

3)    That the continued engagement with the environment agency regarding environmental permit requirements be supported.

4)    That the ongoing engagement with local communities and faith groups during the planning process be supported.

5)    That the preparation of updated cost estimates and funding review prior to procurement, to encompass both capital and ongoing revenue costs, be approved.

6)    That the requirement for ongoing monitoring of programme and capacity risks be noted.
