Reason
The
proposed speed limit changes have strong community support and were
well received in the consultation process. They meet the needs of
the Department for Transport ‘Setting Local Speed
Limits’ advice for local authorities to consider the needs of
communities locally.
All road
users will benefit from an increased level of road safety resulting
from the reduction in speed limit. Lower traffic speeds are
expected to make people feel safer when walking and cycling thereby
encouraging people to do so.
