Purpose
Authorisation to Release
Funds from the Communities Spark Fund – January
2025.
Decision
That the following Spark fund grant award
totalling £500 is approved
Attleborough Town Council
£500 - To support the Chambers Community Café
. Currently running on a Sunday 12pm to 2pm the Chambers Community
Cafe at the Town Hall Attleborough is completely run by volunteers
who serve food and refreshments at no charge to visitors to the
cafe as a way of ensuring those who are in need of socialising and
who have difficulty with affording food are able to have a hot
meal, drinks and to meet other residents.
The food is sourced by local business and
personal sponsorship but is cooked and served up by volunteers. The
Town Council allows the Community Cafe to hire the hall at no cost
and has decided to keep that 4-hour slot free for this valued
facility. The volunteers are also planningto open the Chambers
Community Cafe on a Thursday morning to encourage parents and
children on the way to school to take breakfast and refreshments.
This time slot is open to all, but it is hoped that the time will
be suitable for High School children and parents with younger
children, but also any other visitors in need of breakfast. Funding
will be used to buy equipment
and store cupboard essentials.
