Griston Community Archive
Group

 
An all-day exhibition in
Saint Peter & Paul’s Church, Griston, consisting of photographs, slide shows and
written stories showing the impact of the loss of much farmland for
the airfield of RAF Watton and the subsequent "invasion" of 4000
American Servicemen on the village, their work and relaxation.

Watton Blenheim Centre & Families Club
A community event from 11am-4pm. We will
provide live music and outdoor games such as Hook-a-Duck.
Complimentary buffet/afternoon tea will be provided and also a cash bar. In addition, the event will be
attended by the RBL, cadets, Brownies, Guides and Rainbows who will
have their own stalls/games and the opportunity to speak with
community about their organisations. We hope also to have a small
military vehicle display as well as talks/demos by current serving
members.

Dereham Meeting Point
This will be a one-day event, run by staff and
volunteers at Dereham Meeting Point. The theme of the day is
remembering Dereham on VE/VJ we will have a reminiscence group run
by Angela Bishop from Norwich. Also, 1940s themed food, and a 1940s
singing group in. We will also have talks from people who had been
evacuees sent to Norfolk the event will start at 11.00 am finish at
around 4.00pm

Etling Green Residents Association
We will have a marquee erected on the 'Green',
there will be seating & tables for up to 30 people electricity
will be supplied by portable solar panels. The food & drink
will, wherever possible, match that available in 1945. We’d
like to organise 1945 themed live music. If this grant application
is successful then the event will be free to all attending.
