Purpose

Authorisation to Release Funds from the Communities Spark
Fund - April 2025

Decision

That the following 2 Spark Fund grant awards
totalling £1,000 are approved:

Dereham Community
Crafters £500
The group plan to run small scrapbooking
groups to help older people preserve their special photographs and
memories. They will be encouraged to embellish and decorate the
pages to emphasise the pictures. The group will also help with
research and typing up the memories to put in the books too. The
sessions will provide the opportunity to talk on a one-to-one basis
with someone who wants to hear about their memories.   They will hold groups in care homes, Dereham
Library and Dereham Aid Centre. They hope that lonely older people
will attend as well as early-stage dementia patients and others in
care homes.

Ashill Memory
Café £500
To support people living with Dementia and
their loved ones. Sessions take place at the Call in at Ashill
which is located at the heart of the community. The frequency
currently, is the second Wednesday of every month
1030-1200.  This service provides an
opportunity for activities and recreation for the members as well
advice and signposting appropriately using authorised official
bodies to support members. I.e. Admiral Nurses, CAB, and Breckland
Council’s Community enablers. The activities planned will
also include an away day for members and volunteers to experience a
local garden with refreshments included.
