Purpose
Authorisation to Release Funds from the Communities Spark
Fund - November 2025
Decision
That the following 3 Spark Fund grants
totalling £1,500 are approved.
Narborough Local History Society
£500 – Menshed - The project will
offer residents regular access to a fully equipped workshop,
supported by volunteers who provide safe tool guidance. Activities
include making wildlife?friendly items such as bird boxes and
hedgehog houses. The barn will open around fifty times a year on
Thursdays, selected summer Sundays, and by appointment.
The Tumbler Hill Hub £500 TTHH
currently delivers three core community programmes. Grow Well,
Eat Well is a weekly gardening and food?learning initiative
that helps participants improve food security, develop growing
skills and prepare healthy meals using produce from our polytunnel,
fruit cage, orchard and garden beds.
TICK (Tumbler Inclusive Community
Krafters) offers an inclusive weekly crafting session. The
Hack Shack will operate as an evening practical?skills club.
Funding will enable the expansion of these activities,
increasing capacity, improving facilities and widening access for
local residents.
Swaffham Menshed £500 - Funding
will help maintain and improve the site and to expand the offer.
This includes increasing opportunities for group trips,
particularly for our ex?servicemen members, such as visits to the
National Memorial Arboretum.
Reasons for the decision
To enhance existing provision,
which improves community health and wellbeing and aligns to the
Inspiring Communities Corporate Plan priorities. These activities
aren’t currently available in the local area or easily
accessible in a nearby Ward.
