Purpose

Authorisation to release funds from the Communities Transport Grant Scheme – July 2026

Decision

That the following 2 Transport grant awards of £500 each are approved.

Caring Together - £500 The funding would pay for taxis from Necton & Dereham to Hethersett & return, plus taxis from Old Buckenham & Barnham & return (with 4 young carers). We have child carers from Breckland who attend Norfolk Young Carer's Forum (NYCF). Attendance gives young carers a voice, helping to design diagnostic and support tools used by Norfolk County Council

Veterans Central - £500 Some of the volunteers and veterans have transport - no vehicle or not able to drive. The grant would help to fund call-off taxi service to enable local residents to attend the Swaffham drop-in or the monthly breakfast, or to enable Breckland residents to attend sessions more regularly at SHQ.

Total £1000

Reasons for the decision

This initiative will focus on transport barriers in relation to connection into local community activity & services, for improved health and well-being outcomes.

Alternative options considered

·       To approve the grant awards

·       Not to approve the grant awards
