Purpose
Authorisation to release funds from the Community Car Grant
Scheme - March 2024.
Decision
That the following 14 Community Car Scheme Grant awards
totalling £23,730 are approved:
·
Attleborough & Besthorpe Community Car Scheme
- £3500 To provide transport for
medical appointments to include Dentists, Opticians and Therapists
for residents with medical conditions.
·
Banham Wheels - £1500
New scheme which will provide a service to those
without transport to assist with medical appointments and other
essential travel that meets wellbeing needs.
·
Bawdeswell, Foxley &
Belaugh Community Car Scheme - £250 The car scheme operates to cater for journeys which cannot be
reasonably made using public transport or where the passenger has
difficulty using public transport.

Beetley Parish Council Community Car Scheme -
£1000 To transport residents of
Beetley, Old Beetley and East Bilney to
any medical appointments where no access to public or own transport
is available.
·
Dereham Community Car Scheme -
£6500 To provide transport for
essential medical journeys to residents within the town of Dereham
for those who are otherwise unable to use other means.
·
Hockham
Community Car Scheme - £100
To provide a community car scheme to aid anyone from
Hockham needing transport for Doctors,
Hospital, Opticians, and Dentists appointments.
·
Gressenhall Community Car
Scheme - £1500 To provide a service
for residents to attend medical appointments or visit sick
relatives who have no other means of transport or are unable to use
public transport.

Litcham Community Car Scheme-
£250 To provide transport for local
residents for urgent Hospital and Doctors appointments, who do not
have access to transport or are unable to drive themselves due to
medical issues.

Lyng Community Car Scheme - £750
To provide transport for residents to make
medical-related journeys as no other public transport services are
available in the village.
·
Elsing Community Car Scheme -
£150 To provide medical-related
transport to local residents, as no other services are
available.
·
Mundford Community Car Scheme -
£2000 To provide a service to
assist residents with transport to various medical
appointments.
·
New Buckenham Community Car Scheme -
£250 To provide efficient,
appropriate, not for profit assisted transport for parishioners of
all ages without access to suitable transport to attend
Medical/health appointments of all disciplines.
·
Old Buckenham Parish Community Car Scheme -
£980 To provide transport for
village residents to attend medical appointments.
·
West Norfolk Community Transport -
£5000 To provide a transport
service to residents within a 10–15-mile radius of Swaffham
using a wide range of transport solutions from Volunteer car
drivers to Dial a Bus. Operating 7 days a week to provide transport
to GP, Hospital, well-being appointments, family visits, and
shopping trips. The service is provided to residents who find it
difficult to access public transport due to age, location or mobility.
Reasons for the decision
Applicants have tailored
their proposed transport schemes to meet the needs they’ve
identified in their areas, which will serve to address the
historical gap in access to transport for residents, mainly for
journeys such as medical appointments, these include hospitals,
medical practices, dentists, and opticians.
