Purpose

Authorisation to Release Funds from the
Communities Spark Fund – February 2024.

Decision

That the following Spark fund grant award totalling £500
is approved

Dereham Cancer Care -
To run Craft and Fine Art sessions at
their Centre over a 10 week period, run by local artist and
educator Anna Scrafield. This service
is aimed at the local community, specifically those affected by
cancer, which includes patients, carers and survivors or bereaved.
These sessions are intended to help prevent isolation and encourage
access to the support available from the service and improve
overall wellbeing and relationships.
This is new activity
for the group to launch and therefore funding is requested from the
Spark Fund to trial its success.

Reasons for the decision

These schemes are proposing to
trial new community activity which improves community health and
wellbeing. These trials will enable organisations to measure
success and determine longer-term sustainability for their
projects, which aren’t currently available in the local area
or easily accessible in a nearby Ward.

Alternative options considered

1.
To approve the
grant

2.
To not approve the
grant
