Purpose

Authorisation to release funds from the
Communities Transport Grant Scheme – February 2024.

Decision

That the following Transport grant awards totalling £1000
are approved.

Love Dereham - £500 – Would use prepaid taxi's where
the amount is paid by Love Dereham and the route agreed in advance
for service users’ specific needs, be it a taxi home with
shopping from a supermarket or from the hub with their new "warm"
items.
Those in food poverty use the community fridge and
emergency food parcel service. However, Love Dereham can also give
out £25 or £50 vouchers for Aldi (through other funding
awarded) that prohibit the sale of alcohol and lottery when being
used as payment. However sometimes a service user is not easily
able to access this shop because of its out-of-town
locations.

A secondary issue is the purchase of items for people that arrive
at Love Dereham’s community hub, who then have to carry the
items home (for example, new duvets/bedding sets/heaters) as they
are bulky, heavy or both.
The transport grant would therefore facilitate
journeys which would enable service users to access this additional
welfare support service, where they don’t have the
means.

A Little More Kindness CIC -
£500 - This funding would mean that A Little More Kindness can deliver,
collect and help more people to access their offer, who don’t
have access to transport. The money would be used to reimburse
volunteers for their fuel when collecting and distributing the
food. This funding would also enable volunteers to travel further
afield to collect food for distribution.
The service is
delivered by a group of volunteers who pick up all the food
themselves and distribute it either from the hub on a Thursday
Morning (operating from Attleborough Town Hall at present) or to
the person’s home. The group are regularly delivering food
parcels to people who can’t collect themselves for whatever
reason, so the transport grant would be used to support this
service.
