Purpose
Authorisation to Release Funds from the Communities Spark
Fund - November 2023
Decision
That the following Spark fund grant award totalling £1,000
is approved:
Dereham Town FC -
£500:Plan to put on a
Christmas Meal for fans who have received Free Season Tickets
through the Combatting Loneliness Campaign of the
Council. This will take place on
December 16th (last home game before Christmas) at the Football
Club and run by Dereham FC staff. It
will be run as a one off to check viability for future events and
will look to work with the council to look to identify other
individuals who may benefit from this and a possible future ongoing
scheme.
The friends of Chapel Green School -
£500: Are creating a
kitchen garden within the grounds of the school. This will allow
the 160 students of all disabilities to learn how to grow fresh
fruit and vegetables. The space will be good for keeping healthy
both physical and mentally. It will also give them a space to go to
relax. The fruit and vegetables will be sold in the school
reception to parents and visitors. The money raised will be used to
keep it sustainable and give the children a chance to gain
confidence whilst selling it under supervision. Any residue food
will be given to the local food bank.
Reasons for the decision
These schemes are proposing
to trial new community activity which improves community health and
wellbeing. These trials will enable organisations to measure
success and determine longer-term sustainability for their
projects, which aren’t currently available in the local area
or easily accessible in a nearby Ward.
