Purpose

Authorisation to release funds from the Communities
Transport Grant Scheme - August 2024.

Decision

That the following 7 Transport grant awards of £500 ea.
totalling £3500 are approved:

Breckland Children's Clothes Bank
- £500 To help with Transport costs for
those families who have no access to transport to attend the BCCB,
funding will also be used to reimburse volunteers fuel costs to
deliver items to service users and to collect
donations.

Dereham Cancer Care – £500 To extend service provision into
surrounding areas by helping with travel expenses for clients and
service users where public transport is not convenient or
accessible.

Caring Friends Mid Norfolk
– £500 To pay for transport costs
for volunteer drivers who take service users to doctors or hospital
appointments, where no public transport is available or unsuitable,
and also to pay for DBS checks and training for new drivers
currently being recruited.

A little More Kindness CIC The Kindness Cabin –
£500 The funding would be used to reimburse volunteers
who collect food from donations and buy cheap food in bulk –
Many service users are unable to access cheaper food themselves due
to lack of transport and heavily rely on the Cabin. Volunteers are
also struggling with the cost of living and regularly making
collections and deliver emergency food parcels at their own
expense.

Keystone Development Trust –
£500 The funding would help
residents needing   transport to
and from doctors or hospital appointments, many people identified
in the community have no family or are unable to use public
transport on their own. Payments would be made to local taxi firms
by way of an invoice or reimbursement to volunteer
drivers.

Dove’s Nest Ministries
- £500 The fund would go directly to
the charity to finance fuel for Furniture collections and
deliveries to those most in need. Charity finances are recorded and
allocated into specific categories; a separate category is recorded
for van expenses in our financial records - this would enable us to
ensure the grant is spent specifically on fuel

Swaffham & Litcham Home Hospice
– £500 The funding would help to
maintain the level of service to residents needing transport to
doctors and Hospital appointments when public transport is
unavailable or not appropriate. Funding would reimburse volunteer
drivers for their expenses.
