To request authority to extend a call-off
contract in respect of the Car Share Service with Zipcar (UK)
Ltd.

Content

That the Director of Strategic Commissioning,
Capacity Building and Engagement:
 
i)              
Approves the extension of the call-off contract for Brent Car Share
Service with Zipcar (UK) Ltd for a period of 12 months. The value
of the proposed contract is £0.281m.

Reasons for the decision

The Council entered into a call-off contract
for Car Share Service with Zipcar (UK) Ltd on 1 September 2022. The
contract contains provision permitting extension by 12 months.
Officers consider extending the contract by 12 months will achieve
best value for the Council and is reasonable in all the
circumstances.

Alternative options considered

Officers considered various options, including
not extending the contract. However, there is a demand for the
service and Zipcar (UK) has proved to be an effective partner in
providing such services.
 
Officers therefore concluded it was an
effective partner use of resources to extend the contract for a
period of 12 months. This will also enable officers to consider
future options, including recommissioning the service by
undertaking another competitive tendering process.
