Purpose

To request authority to vary a contract in
respect of the design and build of the Additionally Resourced
Provision (ARP) at St Margaret Clitherow RC Primary School with Morgan Sindall
Construction & Infrastructure Ltd.

Content

That the Director of Property and Assets:
 
i)              
Approves the variation of the contract for the design and build of
the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at St Margaret
Clitherow RC Primary School with Morgan
Sindall Construction Ltd by $488,606.12 to deal with unforeseen
ground conditions, asbestos removal and external works.

Reasons for the decision

The Council entered into a contract for the
design and build of the Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) at
St Margaret Clitherow RC Primary School
with Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure Ltd in
November 2024.
 
Officers have concluded that the contract
requires variation to deal with unforeseen ground conditions,
asbestos removal and additional school requirements.

Alternative options considered

An alternative option would be to not vary the
contract and seek other contractors / suppliers to complete the
works. This option was discounted as it would have involved
additional procurement activities which would have prevented other
works from progressing and led to significant delays to the
project.
