Purpose

This report provides Members with options to consider for the future management or removal of the informal mountain bike track at Warley Gap. The site has a longstanding history of informal use by cyclists and has generated significant local interest, including a public petition in support of retaining the track. The track has also been informally managed by a third party without the Council’s consent.

As the land is common land managed under the Commons Act, there are legal and practical implications associated with its future use and management which Members will need to consider. The report therefore sets out the current position and the options available for Members’ consideration.
