About

This is a statutory committee appointed by Full Council under the Licensing Act 2003.    The Licensing Committee is responsible for carrying out the functions of the Licensing Authority, with the aim of promoting the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; the prevention of public nuisance; and the protection of children from harm.    The Committee oversees licensing policy and may consider broader matters affecting licensing in the city.    The Committee establishes a sub-committee to act in a quasi-judicial capacity to consider and determine applications for:

Premises Licences

Club Premises Certificates

Personal Licences

Temporary Event Notices

This sub-committee meets regularly to hear representations from applicants, responsible authorities, and members of the public.
