Purpose
Rockabye is a Bristol-based organisation which
support parents and carers and offers a therapeutic programme which
supports parent-infant mental health by nurturing the relationship
between parent and baby to enhance attachment, experience, and
wellbeing. Using funding from the Department for Education and
Department for Health and Social Care’s Family Hubs increase
capacity to deliver antenatal and postnatal programmes for
mothers.
Content
To grant fund Rockabye to run a pilot
therapeutic parent-infant mental health programme for
fathers/co-parents; increase capacity to deliver antenatal and
postnatal programmes for mothers.
Alternative options considered
The funding was to pilot work with fathers and
co-parents and working with a known and trusted provider was deemed
the most cost and time effective approach as well as being
permissible within procurement regulations. Rockabye holds a
distinctive position compared with other programmes as it is the
only group that explicitly aims to address the relationship between
parent and baby.
